Important Message of Love!

Dear students (parents-please share this with your child),

Sweet fourth graders. We can do this. I know that we have our online learning ahead of us and we will see each other in the fall. We have a lot to learn and accomplish and we will do that together. We will push through and come out the other side stronger. Today though, while we are on spring break and we are all processing the news that school will not be opening again this year, I just want to be sad for a moment. It is ok to grieve. This is a loss. This is out of the ordinary. We had a great thing going. I miss you. As the news has been sinking in, it has made me remember the highlights from this year. I want to share some of them with you today to make you smile. We will do a lot more of this and do some sweet memory projects as we get to May. Today I just felt like we needed to be sitting around our class campfire sharing our hearts.

Remember when....(some of my favorites times with you)

Reading WONDER together.

Happy Spring Break!

We all need this break and it is finally here! We hope you all have a peaceful and restful spring break. After spring break is over, please stop by the school on Monday or Tuesday (April 6th and 7th) to pick up the packets for the next two weeks. At that time, please also turn in the two weeks of work that your child has already done. The school opens at 9am and closes at 4pm. If this does not work for you, please send me a message and I will try and get the work to you. No students are allowed to come to the school, so it would just need to be an adult. Thank you!!

Here is a list that I put together with some other teachers for spring break ideas:

Here are some pictures to make you smile. Miss you all. Sending lots of love to you and yours!

4th and final quarter of the 4th grade!

To my amazing 4th graders,

I am so proud of each of you! You are incredible. You are flexible and adaptable and are learning such wonderful life skills.

We have reached the final quarter of 4th grade. You are now almost 5th-graders. I am excited for you. Let's finish this year strong.

We do not know what the rest of this year will look like, but we do know about the next couple of weeks. Please continue to do your work this coming week. It will all be online. If you do not have a printer, just label your papers and write your answers on any paper that you have. After spring break, we will have you bring your two weeks of work in and, if need be, you will pick up the next two weeks of work. We will continue like this until we return to school or until the end of the school year.

After spring break, we will be starting a new writing unit. I will host Writer's Workshop through videos 4 days a week. I hope this will be the most productive and helpful way to navigate a new type of …

March 16-20

Hello families! I hope you are all well.

I know you have received the e-mail from Mrs. Imel that school will be dismissed next week. Thank you for your flexibility.  The 4th graders now all have access to Google Classroom. They are pretty excited about it because it is usually a 5th-grade and up thing.  I so appreciate their positivity. They can access our Google Classroom account from anywhere that has a computer, an iPad, or even a phone. It helps to get the Google Classroom app (it's free) for the phone or iPad.

I taught them all how to click on the 9 dots and access their Documents and our Classroom page. All of our assignments are in our Google Classroom.

I will also be sending everything they need for next week home with them today. If you can't pick it up today, I will leave it in the office for you. It would really help if you can swing by, because I have copied everything a…

March 9-13

What an adventure we had at Ano Nuevo. Parents are still sending me photos, so I will add them here as I receive them. What an incredible day to be outside and have some fun exploring and learning together. It is my favorite to have the students outside in nature. We were all in awe as we soaked in the scenery and the magnificent Elephant seals.

We had a mock election this week and we learned so much about voting.
Our in-class speech meet begins on Monday! It will take us 3-4 days to have everyone in the 4th-grade present, but we will know who advances by Friday. Everyone needs to be ready to present by Monday.

Monday is the last day that I will accept the cursive packets for a grade.

The AR goal needs to be met by the morning before school on March 20th. We can do this! I am so proud of these students. They have been working so hard.

Next week we will start typing our final drafts for our landmark projects. If a student is really behind, then I will be sending their project home for th…
